Vietnam-United States relations: What did late President Ho wish that Vietnam’s leaders wanted to realize?

Communists like to beggar the past. The Communist Party of Vietnam has continuously campaigned to study late President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, ethics, and lifestyle for decades.

But they did not mention his statement about “anti-leader worship.” Accordingly, at the Vietnam Labor Party Congress in February 1951, in Viet Bac, Ho affirmed “… Uncle [Mr. Ho Chi Minh] has no thoughts, I speak and act completely according to the ideology of Stalin and Mao Zedong. Someone can be wrong but Comrades Mao Zedong and Stalin are never wrong!

This is one of the evidence of the Communists’ lies. Ho Chi Minh himself affirmed that he had no thoughts of his own, so what did they force people to learn?

Dan Tri newspaper article mentions Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc’s statement

On the occasion of US President Joe Biden’s visit to Vietnam, on September 8, Dan Tri newspaper quoted Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs – Ha Kim Ngoc – as saying, “President Biden’s visit to Vietnam is a milestone for realizing President Ho Chi Minh’s wishes, stated in a letter to US President Harry Truman in 1946.

Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc’s statement is only half of the truth, but it also reminds many people of a historical event. That is, in early 1946, when the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was just established, President Ho Chi Minh proactively wrote a letter to then US President Harry Truman, hoping to pave the way for bilateral Vietnamese-American relations.

Before that, a photo of Ho Chi Minh, Vo Nguyen Giap and Viet Minh leaders appeared, taken with the – an intelligence task force of the US Strategic Intelligence Agency (OSS).

American Deer Squad team was established on May 16, 1945, “with the main task of organizing military training, providing logistics and medical care for Ho Chi Minh’s Viet Minh forces, and cooperating with Viet Minh in gathering intelligence information and fighting against Japan in the final stages of World War II.” This shows that Ho and the Viet Minh had a short period of cooperation with the US, before August 1945.

It is known that Ho Chi Minh’s proposal stated in a letter to US President Harry Truman in 1946 was not responded to by the US side. Because the US intelligence agency has evidence that Mr. Ho Chi Minh is a Communist.

Sure enough, later, with the support of Soviet Russia and Communist China, the Vietnamese Communists won victory over the French. The French lost the battle and were forced to retreat home.

At this time, the Americans immediately stepped in to replace the French, in the role of preventing the Communist wave from spreading in Southeast Asia. That was also the source of more than 20 years of the Vietnam War (1954 – 1975), with the result that millions of Vietnamese people on both sides fell, and at the same time the United States and Vietnam became enemies.

To this day, during the US President’s visit to Hanoi, many people regretfully believe that, due to the foolishness that history created, the United States and Vietnam had to go through painful pages of history, becoming hostile, then normalized relations, and today returned to becoming a “Comprehensive Strategic” partners.

Even though he knew that, “If you shoot at the past with a pistol, the future will shoot at you with a cannon,” looking back today, it is clear that Ho Chi Minh made a “deadly” wrong choice. That was his choice of Communism, bringing a hybrid, utopian ideology of Russian and Chinese Communism into Vietnam.

But the second mistake of the Vietnamese leadership then was that, 37 years ago – in 1986, on the brink of starvation and exhaustion, Hanoi’s leadership realized the mistake of Communism, and decided to carry out the “Rennovation” process, which essentially means gradually abandoning the Soviet model.

The starting point is to abolish the centrally planned economy and switch to a Socialist-oriented market economy. Their mistake is that they are not determined to radically innovate, including the political institutions.

It wasn’t until today, when US President Joe Biden visited Vietnam, that people understood. And everything broke out when General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong announced: “Agreement between the leaders of the two countries on the Joint Declaration on elevating Vietnam – US relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development.” The people have hope that both politics and economy of Vietnam will enter a new chapter on the basis of cooperation with the United States at the highest level, “comprehensive strategic partnership.”

Looking back, it is clear that the Vietnamese people are “thankful” to Uncle Ho, just because he turned this nation into an ant crawling around the rim of a cup, so that the goal of “Communism” after nearly 70 years has changed. Returning to the capitalist economy, there is nothing to call “realizing Uncle Ho’s wishes.” That is, Uncle Ho had the merit of taking the country and the Vietnamese people around, through a long and difficult road, then returning… to the original starting point.

Therefore, it is beyond dispute that Ho Chi Minh and the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam are responsible for setting back the nation’s history by nearly a century./.
