What role does General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong play in China’s spy system in Vietnam?

On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the Northern Border War which broke on February 17, 1979, on social networks, many people changed their avatars to images of purple myrtle flowers with the words “February 17, 1979, never forgotten.”

But there was a heartbreaking event, that is, the article commemorating the Border War of VietnamNet online newspaper, a website with a large number of visitors, was removed after a few hours.

The article is titled “45 years of fighting to protect the Northern border: To prevent pain history from being repeated” published on VietnamNet in the early morning of Friday – February 16.

According to the link leading to the article just mentioned, there is only the caption “This link not found.” However, Google’s retention tool still helps readers read the entire article on other websites.

This has made public opinion extremely dissatisfied, and asked: Why, an article related to a historical event of great significance, about the crimes of the Beijing government against the country and Vietnamese people, were removed like that?

Does this have anything to do with the statement in March 2017, by Major General Truong Giang Long – Deputy Director of the General Political Department of the People’s Public Security; and Director of the People’s Public Security Political Academy, when talking about Vietnam-China relations, in a video appearing on the social network YouTube. Mr. Long affirmed:

China, I would like to say to my comrades, will never give up its ambition to annex our sovereignty in the East Sea (South China Sea), never give up this ambition. But this is not just during Xi Jinping’s time, it will be the same when other leaders come. The story is, when will they get it and how…

Dear comrades, that is why we cannot rule out what they are trying to weaken us from within… Therefore, I would like to tell you, they plant bad guys in our system. Now, I inform comrades that their number has reached hundreds. And hundreds is not just a number that stops at hundreds, but this hundred can be added to another hundred, not just hundreds.

According to analysts, this is a very serious problem, with a large part of Vietnam’s current leaders continuing to worship Beijing. Right after the end of US President Joe Biden’s visit to Hanoi, in mid-September 2023, Vietnamese leaders flocked to “pay their respects” to Beijing, the first one was Minister of Public Security To Lam. These visits are in the hope of being included in the list of “key” personnel at the 14th National Party Congress.

It is known that the “earth-shattering” information revealed by Major General Truong Giang Long caused him to accept the decision to quit his job and wait for retirement, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Public Security on October 3, 2017.

The question is: “Why was General Truong Giang Long decided to retire so suddenly?” Meanwhile, according to regulations, with the rank of Major General, Mr. Long has the right to serve until the age of 65 and will receive the rank of Lieutenant General before retiring.

BBC Vietnamese had an interview with late Colonel Nguyen Dang Quang, who was seconded from the security industry to work in Vietnam’s diplomatic service, on October 4, 2017.

Colonel Nguyen Dang Quang recounted:

“Mr. Nguyen Co Thach openly told officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in official and unofficial meetings, that China set a condition that if it wanted to improve Vietnam-China relations, the first thing that Vietnam needs to do and must do is remove Foreign Minister Nguyen Co Thach.”

According to analysts, at the time the video clip recording General Long’s speech was revealed, the content General Long said was completely true. This is real and exists in agencies in Vietnam, including the top. Even though Vietnam’s security agencies know very well how China has installed their people into Vietnam’s agencies, they are powerless.

The video clip of General Long’s talk was released, right after General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit to China in January 2017. During this visit, Mr. Trong signed 15 cooperation documents, including regularly organizing high-ranking officials of the Communist Party of Vietnam to go to China for training.

Writer Pham Viet Dao once revealed that some Vietnamese leaders once voluntarily followed China, but for some reason turned around, such as Tran Dai Quang or Nguyen Chi Vinh… who contracted a “strange disease” and died in pain.

What does that have to do with the fact that Chinese doctors are responsible for ensuring the health of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong? Obviously, at this point, Mr. Trong’s fate is firmly in Beijing’s hands, so it is understandable that China’s crimes cannot be denounced./.
