General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong of the ruling Communist Party of Vietnam is under special medical treatment at Military Hospital 108. His health is getting weaker and he can barely walk on his own. It is also possible that he will remain in his position until the 10th Plenum of the party’s Central Committee and then quit.
Most recently, due to health reasons, he was unable to attend the Police’s Party Committee Conference, but still sent a directive speech, specifically asking the force to “have a solution to thoroughly overcome the situation of leaking state secrets.”
He also emphasized that “unclear for insiders but outsiders informed.”
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has rarely appeared in the media recently. If he does, he is only seen sitting in one place and unable to move.
